Core Learning & Skills

Core Learning & Skills at SOREM

As a parent, you dream of seeing your child happy, confident, and independent. But when your child faces challenges with learning, communication, or everyday tasks, those dreams can sometimes feel far away.

At SOREM, we want you to know that you are not alone. Our Core Learning & Skills program is designed with love and understanding for children with autism and other developmental needs. Through Functional Academics and Co-Curricular Activities, we help your child learn skills that truly matter in daily life while also discovering joy, creativity, and self-expression.

01

Functional Academics

Functional Academics at SOREM focuses on real-life learning over rote memorization. Children practice math for daily use, reading, writing, communication, and social-emotional skills, along with activities of daily living, community orientation, and creative pursuits, helping them build independence, confidence, and meaningful connections.

Learning Made Practical

Instead of rote memorization, we teach through real-life examples like reading a bus sign, counting fruits, or writing their own name so your child sees how learning helps them in the real world.

Strengthening Communication

Academics are also a way to express needs, thoughts, and emotions. Each lesson is an opportunity for your child to connect with you and others more clearly.

Encouraging Independence

We nurture skills like handling money, telling time, and simple problem-solving so your child can grow more self-reliant and confident in daily activities.

Boosting Focus and Confidence

Structured yet gentle lessons help your child pay attention, remember instructions, and feel proud of their progress.

Practical Learning

Reading bus signs, counting fruits, or writing their own name.

Communication Growth

Expressing needs, thoughts, and emotions through lessons.

Independence

Handling money, telling time, and problem-solving.

Confidence

Structured lessons that improve focus, attention, and self-pride.

02

Functional Living Skills

The Functional Living Skills program helps children gain independence through practical activities like bed-making, folding clothes, cooking basics, cleaning, and measuring. By learning individually or in small groups, children build confidence, self-reliance, and essential life skills that prepare them for everyday success.

03

Co-Curricular Activities

Children shine brightest when they are given space to express themselves. For children with autism, music, art, and play can be powerful tools for communication and healing. Our co-curricular activities are designed to bring out that spark of creativity and joy in your child.

Music & Dance Therapy

Many children find it hard to express feelings through words, but music and movement open new doors. A simple rhythm, a gentle dance, or a familiar song can bring calm, joy, and self-expression.

Art & Creativity

Through painting, drawing, or craftwork, children explore their imagination, improve fine motor skills, and discover pride in creating something of their own.

Sports & Play

Play builds balance, coordination, teamwork, and social skills. Every small achievement on the playground helps children feel stronger and more connected.

Celebrations & Events

When children perform in cultural programs, festivals, or annual functions, it gives them a sense of belonging, confidence, and joy in being part of a larger community.

Our Promise

At SOREM, we don’t measure success by grades, we measure it by the joy on your child’s face when they read a new word, manage a task independently, or successfully do a dance move. Every step is a step closer to confidence and freedom.

Why Choose SOREM?

Moving from Faridabad to Chandigarh, we worried about Yamini’s development. But SOREM gave us immediate comfort. Their unique teaching methods helped her experience group learning for the first time and nurtured her love for music and dance. The school even gave her the honour of meeting the Governor of Chandigarh—a proud moment for us. We are truly thankful to the Principal, staff, and teachers who have supported Yamini like family.
